FAQs

What Kind of Massage Do You Give?

The short answer: the massage you need.

Each session begins with a brief intake where I ask questions, assess your muscle stretch and tissue engagement, and tailor the treatment to your needs. My services include therapeutic massage, neuromuscular therapy, sports massage, lymphatic drainage, aromatherapy, polarity, and even techniques that can assist with Parkinson’s.

Most people don’t know the differences between these modalities, and that’s okay—I’ll explain my approach to help you understand your body’s physiology and movement patterns. My space is lined with mirrors, so you can see exactly what’s happening while I guide you through the process.

While there are relaxing elements, my focus is on achieving results rather than solely promoting relaxation. We’ll finish with stretches and a quick debrief, leaving you informed and ready to move forward

Where Are You Located?

I’m two blocks from Columbus Circle, making it convenient for locals and visitors alike. My space is a cozy, private studio in a 4th-floor walk-up. After completing a brief intake and confirming your deposit, I’ll share the exact address and detailed arrival instructions.

Do You Offer Packages?

Yes! I offer discounted rates for pre-paid packages. These are great if you plan to commit to regular treatments:

  • 5-session package: Save 10%.
  • 10-session package: Save 15%.

Packages are non-refundable and must be used within six months.

Can I Request a Specific Focus for My Session?

Of course! Whether you’re dealing with neck pain, lower back tension, post-surgery recovery, or just need relaxation, let me know your goals during intake. I’ll tailor the treatment to address your needs.

Is the Space Accessible?

Unfortunately, my treatment space is located in a 4th-floor walk-up without elevator access. If stairs are an issue, I’m happy to offer out calls to any location in Manhattan for an additional $50.

What Should I Wear?

You’re welcome to wear as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. My approach is professional and respectful of your boundaries. If you’re unsure, feel free to ask during intake.

Do You Offer Couples or Group Sessions?

While my practice focuses on one-on-one treatments, I can accommodate couples or small groups at my studio or your home. Advanced booking and additional fees may apply.

What Forms of Payment Do You Accept?

I accept cash, Venmo, and Zelle. Payment is due at the time of your session unless prepaid through a package.

What Should I Do Before and After My Massage?

Before your session:

  • Stay hydrated and avoid heavy meals.
  • Let me know about any injuries, conditions, or concerns.
  • Arrive clean/showered when possible

After your session:

  • Drink water to aid in muscle recovery.
  • Avoid intense physical activity for a few hours.
  • Follow any PT instruction to promote health and structure
  • Stretch lightly if needed, and feel free to contact me with any follow-up questions.

What If I Have an Injury or Medical Condition?

Let me know during intake if you have any injuries, medical conditions, or recent surgeries. As log as you're not in the acute stage, I can adapt the treatment to suit your needs. I will recommend you see a physician if massage isn’t appropriate.

Do You Use a Table?

I use an elevated Thai massage mat, raised off the floor for sanitary purposes. It offers ample space for stretching and movement during treatment while staying planted firmly.

Where Are You Located?

I’m based near Columbus Circle. After a brief intake interview and receipt of the deposit, I’ll provide the address and detailed arrival instructions.

Do You Provide House Calls?

Yes, I do house calls within Manhattan. There’s an additional $50 fee for this service.

How Much Does A Massage Cost?

  • $250 per hour. $300 for 90 minutes.
  • Sessions after 10:30 PM are subject to a $50 late-night fee.

What Is Your Cancellation Policy?

I’ll reschedule your appointment at no cost with at least 24 hours’ notice. Life happens, so I’ll work with you if something unexpected comes up. However, repeated cancellations will forfeit deposits.

How Long of a Treatment Do You Recommend?

Most clients choose 60 or 90 minutes, depending on their needs. For post-surgery recovery or detailed work, 2 hours might be necessary. If we uncover additional concerns or you’d like to extend your session, I usually allow time between appointments to accommodate this.

Do You Offer Discounts?

Yes, I offer discounted rates for veterans, students, and teachers. Let me know if this applies to you when booking.

How Should Clients Feel When They Leave?

You’ll feel more mobile, in less pain, and happier in your body. Most say, "WOW it's gone! I can't tell you how long..." You get the picture. I stopped following up because it feels bad reminding people they were once in pain after they forget.

Why Did You Become a Masseur?

In 2014, I was Floxed and lost the use of my legs for some time. Teaching myself to walk again inspired me to switch careers and help others who feel trapped in their bodies. I'm here now to inform and heal.

Is Extensive Training Necessary for a Masseur to Be Successful?

Absolutely. Continuing Education is required in New York State, and staying current with the latest research ensures the best outcomes. If your therapist doesn’t know what an olecranon process is, they probably shouldn’t be using it on you.

How Should Clients Feel About Their Experience?

I don't believe in "should" but the look I see most often is relief. You're taking a gamble coming to see me. My approach is like nothing you've experienced before. It will require some trust. I have yet to have a client feel their trust misplaced.

What Distinguishes You From Other Masseurs?

First, it’s important to clarify the difference:

  • A masseur often implies an intimate or e*otic approach.
  • A manual therapist focuses on therapeutic changes, correcting habitual behaviors and postures, and improving range of motion.

To be certified in the United States, each state has their own minimum qualifications, the most being New York State at 1000 hours. My training involved dissecting three cadavers and studying neurology, giving me an advanced understanding of the body. My work is designed to create lasting, tangible improvements.

I will try to be nice... but:

With most other "practitioners" you may find yourself searching for clinical intervention only to find you accidentally booked an appointment with a sex worker in a nurse's costume. Now listen, I respect the oldest profession. That said, a two week online certification in Reiki and Tantra (which are energy modalities) from Brazil or Bali, does not certify you in touch therapy. Bottom line, know what you're paying for. If what you want is a sex worker, power to you. If you need therapeutic intervention providing better help with a fraction of the pain, you've come to the right place.

What Are Your Hobbies?

I stay active, design clothing, manage properties, and build communities, I write, I'm actively involved in several charities, I walk on stilts, and on occasion I'm a nightlife performer and host.

Do You Remember Your First Client?

Yes! She was an older woman with a trucker’s mouth. She’d say the filthiest things while I worked on her and never stopped talking. Rest her soul. Wherever she is, I hope she’s looking up at me, proud of the practitioner I’ve become.
